Donkey Park (2002, digital Print, size various)
This image, perhaps Mr. Grant's most well-known work, began life as a number of separate images. The owner of the eponymous donkey came out and attacked Japhy with a broom while he was shooting it. In a 1894 interview, Mr. Grant said, "This old bitty, she come out at me like she was, you know- gonna cut me! Turns out some of local thugs done been kicking this damn ass of hers and she thought I was one of them. Holla."
